INTERREG V-A AT-HU PaNaNet+

This project is funded by the programme Interreg V-A AT-HU.

Protection, promotion and development of the natural and cultural heritage: Improvement of the protection, promotion and development of the natural and cultural heritage through common sustainable approaches of sustainable tourism.

The cooperation programme Interreg V-A Austria-Hungary is a European funding programme that encourages cross-border cooperation in the border region to find solutions for common regional challenges.

The common natural heritage of Austria and Hungary in the western Pannonian region is characterized by a diversity that is unique in Europe and that can be experienced all year round due to the topographical and climatic conditions - a potential that has so far only been used to a limited extent. Overarching project goals are therefore a coordinated valuation of this natural heritage on the basis of a network of protected area administrations, which has existed since 2008, which in turn has an excellent network with the key players in regional development, as well as the development and optimization of sustainable, cross-border, barrier-free and innovative nature tourism offers.

Other important project goals are the joint qualitative and quantitative further development of visitor programs in the protected areas, the development of a common understanding of nature tourism, complementary environmental education and awareness-raising measures, the development of programs and infrastructure for people with disabilities, and the extension of the nature tourism season by the stronger one Involvement of tourism organizations.

The program area stretches along the Austrian-Hungarian border and comprises the following 11 NUTS 3 regions: Northern, Central and Southern Burgenland, Vienna, southern Vienna suburbs, Lower Austria south, Graz and Eastern Styria, Győr-Moson-Sopron, Vas and Zala . Only projects that implement activities in the program area can be funded.
