The Birds and Trees Day, initiated by Ottó Herman – scientist, journalist, politician, the last Hungarian polymath – became official in Hungary in 1906 and it is still celebrated every year. This year we celebrate it in Csopak with a bird ringing event and playful tasks given to the participants. School groups and nature friends are warmly welcome to take part in the event in the beautiful park surrounding the central office building of the Balaton-felvidéki National Park Directorate. A short nature trail, the Pele circuit can be found in the park. The trail interprets gardens as habitats for many animals, from ants to roe deer. The interactive trail shows us the living creatures that have adopted to human presence. The creek and the rock boulders exhibited in the park turn our attention to abiotic natural assets that surround us in settlements. Old type Hungarian fruit trees, a herb garden, a picnic area and a collection of bird houses are also part of the experience.
To participate, please book in advance: until 3rd May
